Cancel Max (Formerly HBO Max) in 2026

Cancel Max on the web or app, or through Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, YouTube TV, or your cable provider - and keep watching until your paid period ends.

Max is the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max. The cancellation process is the same as most streaming services: easy if you are billed directly, and routed through your billing provider if you are not.

Max carries the same billing-platform rule as every major streamer: whoever took the first payment has to be the one to stop future payments. This guide covers the direct Max route and the most common third-party billing paths.

Cancel on the WebRecommended

  1. Go to max.com and sign in
  2. Click your profile icon and select "My Account"
  3. Choose "Manage Subscription"
  4. Select "Cancel Subscription" and follow the prompts
  5. Confirm - you will see the date your access ends

Cancel in the Max App

The mobile app uses the same Account path as the web. If you do not see a cancel option, your subscription is billed by a third party and Max cannot cancel it for you.

If You're Billed Through Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, YouTube TV, or Cable

When a third party handles billing, cancel from that platform:

What Happens After You Cancel

  • You keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for
  • No partial refund is issued
  • Your profiles and watchlist are retained for a period in case you return
  • You can resubscribe anytime

Streaming Subscriptions Multiply Quickly

Max is rarely the only streamer on a card. A single live list of every subscription, its cost, and its renewal date is how you catch the overlap - and a reminder before each renewal turns every charge into a decision.

If Max is part of a wider streaming audit, Quick Unsubscribe takes you straight to the cancel page for each service in your list.
