Cancel Spotify Premium in 2026

Cancel Spotify Premium and drop back to the free tier - on the web or through Apple, Google, or PayPal - and keep your playlists, follows, and library.

Spotify is unusual among subscriptions: cancelling Premium does not close your account or wipe your data. You simply revert to the ad-supported free tier and keep everything you built. Here is where to actually do it.

Cancel on the Web

Spotify does not let you cancel Premium inside the mobile app - you have to use a browser:

  1. Go to spotify.com/account and log in
  2. Open "Manage your plan" (or "Available plans")
  3. Select "Cancel Premium" and follow the prompts
  4. Confirm - you keep Premium until the end of the paid period, then move to free

If You're Billed Through Apple, Google, or PayPal

If your Spotify page shows no cancel option, a third party is billing you. Cancel from there:

  • Apple: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Spotify → Cancel Subscription
  • Google Play: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Spotify → Cancel
  • PayPal: Settings → Payments → Manage automatic payments → Spotify → Cancel

What You Keep After Cancelling

  • Your account stays open - cancelling Premium is not the same as deleting your account
  • Playlists, saved albums, podcasts, and follows all remain
  • You keep Premium features until the current period ends
  • You can upgrade again anytime and pick up exactly where you left off

Watch the Renewal, Not Just the Cancel

Music is one of those categories where people quietly hold two or three overlapping services - Spotify, a video service that came with music, an audiobook subscription. Keeping one live list of every recurring charge and its renewal date is how you catch the overlap you would otherwise pay for indefinitely.

If Spotify is part of a wider music and streaming clear-out, Quick Unsubscribe takes you straight to the cancel page for each service in your list rather than making you dig through settings for every one.

Cancelling Netflix takes about two minutes once you know where you are billed. The only real catch is third-party billing - if you signed up through Apple, Google, or PayPal, the cancel button is not inside Netflix.

Cancel Subscriptions on iPhone: Every App Store Subscription in One Place

Your iPhone has a single screen listing every subscription Apple bills you for. It is genuinely good - and it is also only half the picture, because anything charged directly to your card never appears there at all.

Cancel Subscriptions on Android: Google Play and Everything It Misses

Google Play gives Android users something iPhone does not: the option to pause a subscription instead of killing it. It also shares the same blind spot - it only knows about the subscriptions Google itself bills.
