Cancel Audible in 2026 Without Losing Your Audiobooks

Cancel Audible through Amazon, keep your purchased audiobooks, and know what happens to your credits when you leave.

Cancelling Audible is easy, but the membership model has a few catches. Your purchased audiobooks stay yours, but unused credits usually do not survive cancellation. Here is how to do it properly.

Audible is owned by Amazon, so the account and billing system is the same one you use for Prime. The cancellation itself takes a few clicks, but the credit system means timing matters more than with most subscriptions.

Cancel on the Web

  1. Sign in at audible.com with the Amazon account that holds the membership
  2. Go to "Account Details" from the dropdown under your name
  3. Select "Membership" from the left-hand menu
  4. Click "Cancel membership" and follow the prompts
  5. Confirm the cancellation

Cancel Through the Audible App

The Audible app generally redirects you to the website or Amazon to manage membership. If you subscribed inside the iOS or Android app, the subscription may be billed by Apple or Google Play instead - in that case, cancel in Settings → Subscriptions or the Play Store.

Use Your Credits Before You Cancel

This is the most important Audible-specific step. Unused membership credits typically expire when you cancel. Log in, check your credit balance, and spend every credit on books you want before you confirm the cancellation. Once the membership ends, those credits are gone.

Pause Instead of Cancel

Audible sometimes offers a "pause membership" option instead of cancelling. This stops your monthly charge and credit for one to three months while keeping your account and benefits ready to resume. It is worth considering if you only need a short break.

What Happens After You Cancel

What you keep and what you lose when Audible ends
WhatAfter you cancel

Unused creditsTypically forfeited - spend them before you confirm

Check for Other Amazon Subscriptions

Audible is often one of several Amazon recurring charges. While you are reviewing, check Prime, Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Music, and any Prime Video Channels you may have added.

Quick Unsubscribe takes you straight to the cancel page for each service in your list, including the Amazon ones.
